Learning to Invest: A Lifetime Pursuit
A Former Equity Partner at Bridgewater Associates Discusses Asset Allocation, Bond Yields and Geopolitical Hotspots.
Income Matters Today spoke this week with Paul Podolsky, a distinguished writer and an experienced global investor. He started his eclectic career in the 1990s working as a journalist in Russia. He later spent more than 20 years on Wall Street, mostly at Bridgewater Associates — the world’s biggest hedge fund that was led for many years by the estimable Ray Dalio. “I tested these ideas out in a portfolio continuously run since 2007 called Kate Capital,” he tells IMT. “I believe the world can be understood but it isn’t easy and requires a combination of rigorous economic analysis overlaid with history, cultural understanding, and creativity.”
His Substack newsletter is titled “Things I Didn’t Learn In School.” IMT asked him for, among other things, some big-picture thoughts about income investing, including asset allocation. He is a keen observer of various subjects, from the bond market to the latest tensions between China and Taiwan. The link to the interview is below. And last but not least, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
